February 3, 2010 – The Chattanooga Housing Authority’s Neighborhood Networks Lab, located at Greenwood Terrace Apartments, is making sure residents are armed with information and resources that can transform their lives. In 2008, CHA was awarded a $400,000 Neighborhood Networks grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to create a technology center at the Greenwood site. Today, families enjoy free access to computers for job searches, resume writing, general research and homework assistance, as well as information about an array of supportive services. Here’s a look at what’s happening at the Neighborhood Networks Lab this month:

Date: Saturday, Feb. 6
Time: 11 a.m.-1p.m.
Event: Help is on the way for first-time moms at Greenwood. “Baby Basics” provides expectant mothers with useful information about caring for newborns. This workshop is sponsored by ReStart, formerly READ Chattanooga. Moms of all ages are invited to attend.

Event: Sometimes adults can get “computer blues.” But, there’s no need to fear. Neighborhood Networks offers adult computer classes twice a week at the lab. All adults interested in learning the basics of using the computer, or those who want to hone their skills, are encouraged to attend these classes. Also, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m.-noon the lab has a Job Readiness and Resume Writing class for adults.
